About this Campaign

Meccaniche Veneziane is proud to launch the first Swiss Made GMT watch on Kickstarter, a product which combines Nereide’s characteristic design, marked by refined and vigorous features, with a new complication standing for technical innovation, the GMT function, that will allow you to become a true citizen of the world, by being constantly aware of how time runs on the rest of the Planet. The timepiece retains the brand’s most distinctive peculiarities, introducing remarkable additional elements such as the renowned ETA 2893-2 movement.

Venice has always been regarded as the epicenter of the world of explorations: its glorious past is deeply connected to the Mediterranean Sea, an unlimited source of power and wealth which has allowed the maritime Republic to become one of the mightiest powers of Europe.

Moreover, Venice was an absolute pioneer in the world of horology and gave birth to a tradition started in 1386, with the building of the most ancient clock of the world, that paved the way for further achievements during the Industrial age and allowed the enterprising city to confirm its title of protagonist of this revolutionary process thanks to the contribute of the brothers Herion, who chose Venice to open the first Italian timepieces factory in 1877.

Unfortunately, an irreversible crisis seriously compromised the general economic stability, marking the sunset of a field of production that had brought uncontested glory and innovation for centuries.

With the introduction of the ultimate GMT function, not only does Meccaniche Veneziane aim at the rediscovery of Venice's incredibly enterprising heritage and the perpetuation of such a unique and outstanding tradition, but also at the renovation of its outer features according to the contemporary trends and necessities.

The label “Swiss Made” stands for skilled and competent craftsmanship and confers a sense of reliabilitylustre and high durability to any timepiece having the honour to present this writing craved on it.

They are not only the most appreciated in the market but also the most valued and respected ones by watch lovers and collectors. As a matter of fact, “Swiss Made” is universally regarded as a synonym of excellence, technical innovation, and inimitable subtlety.

Our main priority is to make our most demanding customers proud of wearing a Meccaniche Veneziane timepiece. That’s why we only use the finest components and materials available. Here’s an overview:
